I was looking towards my first inspirations into painting and one of the many Masters that inspired me was Monet.
Our local lake (Te Koutu), in my home town Cambridge, New Zealand has a lovely little bridge and loads of water lillies. I merged the two images together in the hope that I would get a painting like Monets Lilly Pad painting. I was very happy with the end result.
This painting is in an impressionist style and I felt a lot freeer painting in this style.
For the most part I always want my works to look consistent. Hence only six or seven colours are used in my paintings. I am trying to achieve harmony within the painting and my whole landscape series.
