Waikato Hills Limited Edition Print

Waikato Hills Limited Edition Print is based on the original painting ‘Waikato Hills‘ which has sold.

The original painting is of a beautiful farm near Pairere (in between Cambridge and Tirau).

I used to work in Tirau, part-time, in a gallery.  Every time I drove past this spot I thought that I must capture this beautiful farm and on it an incredible homestead.  I would like to paint some more scenes from this majestic farmland.  It is a much admired piece of the Waikato landscape.

This particular afternoon I stopped the car to capture the striking afternoon light on the hills.  It was just as the sun was carressing the land for the last time that day.

I love the contrast in the colours and every brush stroke brought this painting to life.  The most difficult part of this painting was painting on the round canvas and wrapping the image around the sides, especially the tree branches.

For the most part I always want my works to look consistent.  Hence only six or seven colours are used in my paintings.  I am trying to achieve harmony within the painting and my whole landscape series.
