‘Summer in Queenstown’: An Original New Zealand Landscape painting of the beautiful town of Queenstown in Summer by Artist Kirsten McIntosh
We were visiting the scenic town of Queenstown on my husbands work trip. I captured this image whilst waiting for some friends who were on the gondola. It is such an amazing town to visit and the scenery is so amazing. The vista’s from the top of the gondola are breathtaking from all views and it is well worth the visit. A painters dream!
The original image has been filtered to bring out the rich autumn tones. Clouds are a special interest of mine to paint as they are quite technical. I love all of the different shapes – they have always intriqued me. The colours of the clouds are quite different, in this painting. However the colours work so cohesively together. This was a challenging but very enjoyable painting to paint.
I really love the rich colours in this painting and I only use five or so colours so that all of my work has a consistent look.
