Stingray Bay: NZ Landscape Painting of the gorgeous Stingray Bay near Cathedral Cove in Hahei by Artist Kirsten McIntosh
Stingray Bay: NZ Landscape Painting. This painting was captured whilst spending time at Hahei Beach in the Coromandel (North Island). At this time I decided to do a trek to Cathedral Cove. This was a walk that I needed to do alone so that I could stop and capture the beauty of it. I took shots at every bay and breathtaking vista.
On the walk there are lots of little bays. I was enticed to see what Stingray Bay had to offer. I wasn’t disappointed. The beautiful colours in the water are magical up against the limestone cliffs with the Pohutukawa’s lingering on the shoreline. Spectacular!
On the whole a great portion of my paintings involve water. There is something special about being near the sea, surf, lakes or rivers.
In addition, I really enjoyed painting this piece – it seemed to just paint itself. In this case every brush stroke brought this painting to life in particular the limestone Cliffs in the background – just a touch of light makes a world of difference.
Futhermore I always want my works to look consistent. Six or seven colours are used in my paintings. I am trying to achieve harmony within the painting and my whole landscape series. I definately will be painting more of this area and scenes from this one walk.
Unfortunately, prints of this artwork aren’t available due to it being a tryptch however if you would like another version of this scene request this through my contact page.
Thanks for viewing.
