Description
Promise of a New Dawn: NZ Landscape Painting: An Original Landscape by Artist Kirsten McIntosh
Promise of a New Dawn was captured whilst taking my boys, James and Daniel, to school everyday. They used to go to a rural school ‘Goodwood’ just out of the town of Cambridge in a district called Fencourt. The school has such a magical backdrop and quite often after school drop off I would be out there taking photos of the hills. It is an area that has lots of history for my family as my Grandparents farmed near the school. My Dad also attended the school as well as my siblings and I. Our family also farmed a sheep and beef farm nearby and my parents currently live three houses down from the school. So it is in our blood lets say!
My favourite part of this painting is all of the colours in the hills and the sharpness of the light. This particular photo was taken in the evening so it is amazing to see the angled light casting its shadows on the hills – promising a new dawn.
This painting has many acrylic and oil layers that build up the colours and depth
