A Peaceful World Limited Edition Print
I sourced the image off Edwina Bullock Photographer. “Fairy Glen Loads of sun rays here today , maybe to light the way for the fairy’s”. Image taken in North Wales – FairyGlen Betws-y-Coed.
When I first saw it it reminded me of the Pokaiwhenua Canyon at Karapiro (near Cambridge) which I have painted many times – so that was the inspiration behind the piece.
I just saw the light in the piece and I was drawn to it – and how the image made me feel. A lot of my paintings are all about the light and how it shows itself onto everything that surrounds it. The environment of the piece – how crisp and clean it looks and I want to consider our environmental impacts and how we want to keep beautiful places like this pristine.
I painted the painting in oil as I know that the reflections and the light would sit so nicely on the linen canvas. I built up the painting in many layers to create the depth in the painting and I’m always wanting for the viewer to feel like they can step into the scene. • I used a scumbling effect to create the rays of light that hit the rock face and I also incorporated some interference powder to give that extra special quality to the light.
This painting has many acrylic and oil layers that build up the colours and depth.
Thanks for viewing.
